Privacy Policy
Headcount for AION 2 (aion-2.online) is an unofficial fan-made data site. It has no accounts, no payments and no ads. This page lists everything the site collects and why.
What we collect when you visit
- Traffic statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies.
- Anonymous event count. The site sends a few events to our own server so we know which parts get used: page views, switching the chart view, pressing "Compare today with launch", reading a point on the chart, switching review views, clicking the header links, the weekly recap button, a chart that fails to load and pressing "Try again". Each event keeps the event name, the page path, the page language, small details such as which view you chose, the website and campaign tags that brought you here (host name only, never the full address), and the time.
- No IP address is stored. To count visitors without cookies, each event carries a short code made from your IP address, your browser's user agent, the date and a secret key. The code changes every day, cannot be turned back into your IP address, and the IP address itself is not saved.
- Do Not Track. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we do not record events at all.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share visit data.
What stays in your browser
The site saves a few small items in your browser's own storage (not cookies):
- Where this visit came from, for the current tab only (session storage). It goes with the events above and is gone when you close the tab.
- Where you first came from, kept for 30 days (local storage). On other sites this is sent when someone signs up or pays; this site has neither, so it never leaves your browser.
- A test marker, only if you open the site with a
utm_source=test-link. We use it to keep our own checks out of the statistics.
None of these are saved when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
If you leave your email for the weekly recap
The weekly recap email is not built yet. The "Email me the weekly recap" button counts how many people want it. If you type your email and press "Count me in", we store:
- your email address,
- a fixed note that you asked for the weekly recap,
- the page language and the time.
We use it for one thing: to send you the weekly recap if we build it. We do not share it, sell it or add it to any other list. The site owner may get a notification email about your sign-up through our email provider.
To have your email deleted, write to hello@aion-2.online from that address and we will delete it.
Steam data on this site
The player counts and review numbers come from Steam's public APIs, which our server reads on a schedule. For reviews we keep only the review's ID, its language, whether it is positive or negative, the reviewer's playtime when they wrote it, and when it was written. We do not store review text, Steam names or Steam account IDs.
Where the data is kept
The site and its database run on Cloudflare. Fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page does not contact any font service. Links to Steam, NCSOFT and news sites take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
Changes
If the site starts collecting something new, we will update this page and the date above.
